Calling All U.S. Universities: Host the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program!

Are you ready to make a global impact in education? The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and IREX are seeking proposals from U.S. universities to host the prestigious Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program.

Purpose:

Funded by Congress, the Fulbright Teacher Exchange programs aim to enhance the professional development of educators both in the U.S. and internationally. These programs offer elementary and secondary school teachers the chance to enrich their teaching practices with global perspectives, fostering connections and preparing students to tackle global challenges.

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (Fulbright TEA) specifically supports international secondary school teachers. Participants engage in academic seminars covering innovative teaching methodologies, instructional technology, and more. They also complete a practicum in a U.S. secondary school, gaining firsthand experience in American classrooms. Furthermore, the program offers specialized cohorts focusing on gender in education, media literacy education, and climate education.

We are looking to select approximately eight universities to host around 185 participants in cohorts of approximately 23 educators per university. The program will run for six weeks in both the early Spring and Fall of 2025.

Eligibility Requirements:

We encourage proposals from diverse institutions across the U.S. capable of meeting the program’s specific requirements.

Key Dates and How to Apply:

Proposals are due by 5:00 PM EDT on May 1, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered. Please email your proposal as a single PDF file to FulbrightTEA@irex.org. Awards are expected to be announced in July 2024.

For detailed application guidelines, download the Request for Applications [Fulbright TEA Host University Request For Applications]. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact FulbrightTEA@irex.org.
