Interns not receiving financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UNU to partially subsidise their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.

About the Junior Fellows Internship Programme

The Junior Fellows Internship Programme invites graduate students with a keen interest in the United Nations and UNU to apply for this competitive internship opportunity. Successful candidates will contribute to the impactful work of the Office of the Rector, gaining valuable skills and experiences along the way. Here’s what you can expect:

Networking Opportunities: Interact with scholars, professionals, and experts from diverse backgrounds within UNU and the UN system. Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Junior Fellow, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in various initiatives, including administrative research, event coordination, planning, editorial support, and communication. To qualify, you should:

Be a graduate student or recent graduate (within two years) pursuing postgraduate studies in a relevant field. Be under 32 years of age at the time of application. Have native or fluent command of written and spoken English. Demonstrate excellent research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Possess advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications. Show a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and UNU. Working Conditions and Application Process

The internship runs parallel to university semesters, with two intakes per year: Fall (mid-August to mid-December) and Spring (mid-February to mid-June). Junior Fellows work full-time during regular hours and receive a monthly stipend to cover living costs.

Submit your application online by Application Deadline:  24 May 2024 (extended). Complete the application form and upload required documents, including CV, cover letter, funding form, and language certification. Participate in a three-stage application process, including interviews and a short assignment. Successful applicants will sign an Agreement Form and may apply for a Japanese visa if necessary.
