Call for Application: Indo-Pacific Leadership Lab [Funded]
The Indo-Pacific Leadership Lab, jointly launched by the East-West Center and the Japan Foundation, is a unique opportunity for rising leaders from diverse sectors in the Indo-Pacific region. The program aims to deepen leadership practices and increase impact, focusing on community-centered and action-oriented leadership that addresses complex social issues.
About the Program:
– Duration: October 2024 to September 2025
– Locations:
– Honolulu, Hawaiʻi (December 2024)
– Suva, Fiji (April 2025)
– Tokyo, Japan (September 2025)
– Focus for 2025 Cohort: Leadership responses to the challenges and risks arising from the climate crisis.
Eligibility Criteria:
– 5-10 years of deep work or research experience in an area with clear connections to climate change mitigation, adaptation planning, natural resources, or environmental governance.
– Citizenship and residency in one of the specified countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
– Verbal fluency in English, with strong written English skills.
– Demonstrable writing experience.
– A current passport with validity through March 2026.
– Able to commit to one week of travel in December 2024, April and September 2025, plus monthly virtual connections in between travel (estimated at about 4 hours/month).
Desirable Qualifications:
– Deep and ongoing involvement in an organization, business, educational institution, or community initiative related to climate change.
– Professional, public, and/or community leadership track record.
– Interest in collectively generating community-focused policy and impact initiatives connected to climate change adaptation.
– Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in small teams or in large groups.
Financial Information:
The Indo-Pacific Leadership Lab provides Fellows with round-trip airfare to/from the program locations, program fee and materials, accommodation, travel insurance, meals, and some applicable visa-related costs (if required).
