Refugees International proudly announces the commencement of the second cohort of its esteemed Refugee Fellows Program, slated to begin in July 2024. This groundbreaking initiative is designed to empower and bolster the advocacy efforts of refugee leaders worldwide. Tailored to optimize impact and growth, this year-long fellowship promises robust support for the advocacy goals pursued by fellows, equipping them with the tools, resources, and access needed to amplify the voices of refugees and drive tangible change in the advocacy landscape.

Program Overview:

1. Formal Affiliation with Refugees International: Fellows will collaborate closely with Refugees International staff, supporting their advocacy work, which may include research reports, external publications, events, direct advocacy with policymakers, media interviews, and more.

2. Peer-to-Peer Learning and Mentorship: Fellows will engage in peer-to-peer learning opportunities with cohort members and receive formal training on advocacy and communication skills from Refugees International staff and experts.

3. Eligibility and Application: Open to individuals with personal experience of forced displacement and a demonstrated commitment to advocacy for the rights and safety of displaced people. The program encourages emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds to apply.

Duration and Grant:

– Duration: July 22, 2024, to July 22, 2025.
– Grant: Fellows will receive a $15,000 grant in four quarterly installments throughout the year.

Key Fellowship Components:

1. Technical Training: Skills enhancement in areas such as public speaking, advocacy planning, fundraising, and other themes tailored to meet the needs of fellows.

2. Professional Networking: Access to a broad network of influential figures in the humanitarian field, fostering professional relationships and collaborative opportunities.

3. Funding Opportunities: Support in effective fundraising training and networking.

4. Collaborative Advocacy Events and Trips: Opportunities for partnership with Refugees International on key advocacy issues through events and research trips.

Application Process:

To apply, candidates must complete an application form, submit a personal statement, and provide a concise work plan for the fellowship year. Panel interviews will be conducted in the second half of June, with fellowship decisions made by early July.
