Call for Proposals: Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Environments (RISE) Grants Challenge 2024

Objective:
The RISE grants challenge aims to fund projects addressing gender-based violence (GBV) occurring within and linked to environmental and climate-related sectors.

Scope:
In 2024, the RISE grants challenge seeks proposals to prevent, mitigate, and respond to GBV and environmental linkages amid global biodiversity and climate crises. Specific emphasis is placed on addressing GBV in fisheries sectors. Applications should promote rights-based, gender-responsive, socially inclusive conservation, climate action, and sustainable development.

Eligibility Requirements:
– Countries: Projects must be implemented in targeted countries or be global policy-focused.
– Applicants: Open to diverse organizations, including partnerships and collaborations.
– Thematic Responsiveness: Proposals must align with the objectives of addressing GBV and environmental linkages.
– Operational Capacity: Applicants should demonstrate operational and administrative capacity.
– Language: Proficiency in English or French is required.
– SEAH Policy: Applicants must adhere to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH) policies.
– Self- and Collective Care: Consideration of self- and collective care strategies is encouraged.

Application Process:
1. Expression of Interest Stage (10 May – 7 June 2024):
– Submit applications HERE

2. Eligibility Screening Stage (10 – 29 June 2024):
– Initial screening to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria.

3. Invited Proposal Submission Stage (1 July – 31 July 2024):
– Shortlisted applicants submit detailed proposals through SMApply.
– Submit questions by 15 July 2024.
– Proposal submission deadline: 31 July 2024.

4. Technical Evaluation Stage (1 August – 9 October 2024):
– Evaluation and ranking of proposals by a Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC).
– Interviews with shortlisted applicants.
– Notification of finalists by 30 September 2024.

5. Due Diligence Stage (30 September – 1 December 2024):
– Due diligence process for selected finalists.

6. Grant Winners Finalization (1 December – 31 December 2024):
– Signing of grant agreements.

Interventions RISE Seeks to Fund:
– Partnerships between environmental, gender equality, GBV-expert, indigenous peoples, or community-based organizations.
– Survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
– Strategies to engage men and boys in addressing GBV and environment linkages.
– Women’s economic empowerment activities.
– Institutional learning and innovative arrangements.
– Bridging knowledge gaps and influencing policy agendas.
