About Restless Development

Restless Development is a global agency for youth-led development, empowering young people to demand and create a just and sustainable world. With operations in nine global hubs and a network of over 4000 youth organizations across 185 countries, we equip young people with the skills and resources to tackle pressing issues in their communities. Our work encompasses areas such as unemployment, sexual rights, youth voice, and leadership development.

About the 2024 State of the Youth Civil Society Report

Young people are at the forefront of community development efforts worldwide. However, funding remains a significant challenge for youth-led initiatives. Previous editions of the State of the Youth Civil Society Report have highlighted the dwindling financial support available to young activists. For instance, in 2022, 72% of respondents reported a decrease in funding. Moreover, only a fraction of climate funding and development assistance is allocated to youth-related initiatives.

In response to these challenges, the 2024 report, titled “Resourcing Youth Power to Thrive,” aims to analyze the types of resources that enable youth civil society to flourish. Through this research, we seek to identify alternative resourcing mechanisms and explore the implications of inadequate support for youth empowerment.

Your Role as a Young Researcher

If selected, you’ll play a vital role in implementing the research project in your region. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the research design and tool development.
  • Mobilizing respondents from relevant communities.
  • Collecting data using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Participating in data analysis workshops.
  • Conducting validation exercises with research participants.
  • Creating a short video to share key findings.
  • Promoting findings within your networks.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on the final report.
  • Engaging with the media to disseminate findings.
