European Central Bank Scholarship: Empowering Women in Economics and STEM

Are you a woman aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies in economics, statistics, engineering, or computing in Europe? If funding hurdles stand in your way, the European Central Bank (ECB) is here to support you with our ECB Scholarship for Women.

Why Are We Offering This Scholarship?

At ECB, we’re committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the fields of economics and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Our aim with this scholarship is to empower talented women, particularly those from low-income backgrounds and EU nationals, to pursue advanced degrees and excel in their careers, especially in central banking and banking supervision.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ECB Scholarship for Women, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as a woman
  • Hold nationality from an EU country
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in a master’s program in economics, statistics, engineering, or computing at a European university or business school
  • Facing financial barriers that may hinder your studies
  • Demonstrated excellent academic performance in your undergraduate studies

We encourage women of all backgrounds to apply, regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, race, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation.

What You Get

If selected, you’ll receive:

  • A grant of €10,000 to support your studies
  • A one-week study visit to the ECB
  • Insights into the ECB’s central banking and banking supervision work
  • Networking opportunities with fellow scholars and members of the ECB’s “Women in Leadership” network
  • Mentorship from an ECB economist or an expert in your field of study

The Application Process

Here’s how to apply:

  1. Complete the application form available on the ECB website by May 17, 2024.
  2. Provide details about your motivation for pursuing your studies and your career aspirations, along with your current funding situation.
  3. Submit supporting documents, including proof of acceptance or preliminary acceptance to a relevant master’s program, official transcripts, and an academic letter of recommendation.

Incomplete applications will not be considered, so ensure all required documents are included.

Timing and Selection Process

The application window for the 2024-25 academic year closes on May 17, 2024. Online interviews will be conducted in June 2024, with successful candidates notified by July 2024.
