Download the Application Packet:

Fund Overview: CJRF is a pioneering philanthropic initiative focused on climate justice and resilience. We believe in putting people, their rights, and their lived experiences at the forefront of climate action. Over the years, we’ve invested millions of dollars in locally-led, rights-based initiatives to help communities reduce risk, manage shocks, and continue their path to development. To learn more about our past partnerships and impact, check out our 2023 evaluation.

Fund Transition: In 2021, CJRF’s Review Board made a historic decision to shift our governance model. We transitioned from a funder-led board to a board comprised of activists and practitioners. This change aligns with our belief that those facing climate challenges should lead the way in finding solutions. To learn more about this transition, visit our blog.

CJRF’s 2024-25 Grantmaking Strategy: Our new board has been hard at work designing an 18-month strategy to deploy up to $4M in funding. We’re test-driving several participatory grantmaking methods to ensure that our grantmaking processes are inclusive and empowering. We’re excited to launch the first of these pilots with our global open call for applications!

Open Call Theme: This year, we’re focusing on “Building Connections, Networks, and Collaborative Spaces for Climate Justice and Resilience.” Through this theme, we aim to support organizations in creating relationships and structures for collective climate action.
