Empowering Young Leaders for a Healthier Tomorrow: AstraZeneca’s Young Health Programme Impact Fellowship

Are you a passionate young leader actively engaged in advocacy for a healthier future for young people, society, and the planet? AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical company, is seeking young leaders from around the world who are committed to making a positive impact in at least one of three critical focus areas:

1.Improving Health Equity and Access: Advocating for equitable health outcomes, particularly among marginalized and historically disadvantaged groups of young people. This includes advancing gender equity in healthcare for girls and women.

2.Mitigating the Impact of Climate on Health: Advocating for measures to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change on the health and well-being of young people.

3.Health System Strengthening and Resilience: Advocating for stronger, more equitable health systems, prioritization of youth-focused resources, and collaboration across health system stakeholders.

Background

AstraZeneca recognizes the importance of prioritizing prevention to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services and improve equitable outcomes. The Young Health Programme (YHP) is AstraZeneca’s global disease prevention initiative focusing on young people aged 10 to 24 in vulnerable environments and under-resourced settings worldwide. The program aims to prevent common non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory disease.

The YHP combines community programs, research, advocacy, and the development of young leaders to foster sustainable collective leadership focused on improving youth and adolescent health, particularly in under-resourced and marginalized communities.
