Applications are now open for the Landau Family Foundation Oakland Open Call 2026, a new grant opportunity supporting grassroots organizations and coalitions advancing social, racial, and economic justice in Oakland, California.

The Landau Family Foundation is launching its first-ever open call in Oakland to fund organizations working in community arts, arts and activism, housing justice, and workers’ rights.

The foundation prioritizes organizations rooted in and accountable to communities most impacted by racial, social, and economic injustice.

About the Grant Opportunity

This open call is designed to support local leaders, grassroots innovation, advocacy, and creative expression as drivers of systemic change.

Funding can be used for:

  • General operating support
  • Program expenses
  • Capacity-building initiatives

The foundation seeks to reduce barriers to funding and invest in community-led solutions that promote long-term equity and justice.

Grant Amount

Selected organizations will receive grants ranging from:

  • US$10,000 to US$25,000

Number of Awards

  • 10 to 20 organizations and coalitions will be selected during this funding cycle.

Priority Program Areas

Eligible applicants may work in one or more of the following areas:

  • Community arts
  • Arts and activism
  • Housing and housing justice
  • Workers’ rights and labor justice

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be organizations or coalitions based in or serving Oakland, California
  • Focus on social, racial, and economic justice
  • Be rooted in and accountable to impacted communities
  • Have an annual operating budget of US$5 million or less

Application Process

The first stage of the application is a Letter of Introduction (LOI).

Important details:

  • LOIs are reviewed on a first come, first reviewed basis
  • Only the first 100 LOIs received will be reviewed during the spring cycle
  • Early submission is strongly encouraged
