Qualification Round (Ongoing)
The Qualification Round is currently open and accessible to all eligible students across the globe. Participants are required to solve five quantum mechanics problems independently from home. These problems are a mix of conceptual questions and calculation-based challenges, covering fundamental topics in quantum physics.
Each problem carries 5 points, and participants must achieve a minimum score ;12, 14, or 17 points depending on their age group ;to advance to the Semi-Final Round. This flexible scoring system ensures fairness across varying educational levels.
Importantly, all participants receive official participation certificates, recognizing their effort and engagement. Additionally, those who submit digitally typed solutions may receive special notes, highlighting the quality and clarity of their work.
Semi-Final Round (July 2026)
Students who successfully qualify proceed to the Semi-Final Round, which introduces a more advanced level of academic rigor. Participants will engage with real research papers in quantum physics, allowing them to experience how theoretical concepts are applied in actual scientific studies.
This stage consists of a supervised 60-minute examination. All necessary materials will be provided via email and participant accounts on Friday, 24 July 2026.
A registration fee of 12 EUR applies for this round; however, financial aid is available to support students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
Final Exam (25 August 2026)
The Final Round represents the pinnacle of the competition. Scheduled for Tuesday, 25 August 2026, this globally coordinated exam challenges participants with approximately 30 questions in various formats, including multiple-choice and free-response problems.
Participants are expected to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of quantum mechanics, drawing from both foundational principles and insights gained in earlier rounds.
