By participating in the Mirzayan Fellowship, Fellows will have the chance to explore new career avenues, gain professional skills, learn the process of translating scientific research into federal policy, understand federal operations, and experience Washington, DC, while building a network of experts in the field. Additionally, the program fosters a dynamic cohort experience and an active alumni community.

Who Should Apply

We are seeking motivated early-career scientists, engineers, medical professionals, and late-stage graduate students with a keen interest in science and technology policy. The program welcomes international students already based in the United States and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in these fields. Even if you have a strong interest but limited policy experience, we encourage you to apply.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Commitment to attend the full 12-week program in-person in Washington, DC, from March 3 to May 23, 2025.
• Current graduate students pursuing a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) in sciences, engineering, or medicine (including social sciences), who have completed their coursework.
• Recent graduates who obtained their terminal degree within the last five years.
• Must be based in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship from the National Academies during the program.

   • Short CV (max 3 pages, PDF)
   • Preferred program units (Choose 5)
   • Two reference letters (max 2 pages per letter, PDF)
   • Statement of Interest (max 500 words)
   • Description of Policy Issue Interest (max 300 words)
5. Notify Referees: Provide their email addresses in your application.
6. Submit Application: Complete and submit all materials via our online platform by September 9, 11:59 PM EDT.
