What’s the Fellowship About?

Funded by the generous Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) grant, this fellowship program invites both senior and junior researchers to the American-German Institute (AGI) in Washington, DC. The program offers research stays lasting two to four months and provides several benefits, including a monthly stipend of up to €3,204, travel support, and office space at AGI.

Who Can Apply?

– German nationals (doctoral candidates, junior academics, and academics)
– Non-German individuals permanently residing in Germany (doctoral candidates, junior academics, and academics)
– German and non-German individuals affiliated with DAAD Centers for German and European Studies outside the United States

What Will Fellows Do?

Fellows will engage in research related to transatlantic relations, focusing on areas like policy, politics, economics, law, education, social sciences, and humanities. During their tenure, fellows will present their research findings, network with experts, and contribute to AGI’s mission of fostering the German-American partnership.

How to Apply?

To apply, submit the following documents in English:

– A brief cover letter stating your eligibility and how you learned about the fellowship
– Curriculum vitae with publications list (if applicable)
– Project proposal (5-7 pages) outlining your research, its relevance to AGI’s mission, and your reasons for choosing AGI and Washington, DC
– Two recent letters of reference (for PhD students and recent PhDs)
– Proficiency in English is required
