About the Media and Public Engagement Team

The Media and Public Engagement team helps shape global conversations around education by positioning Teach For All as a leading voice in educational equity and systems change.

The team works proactively to:

  • Build compelling narratives around Teach For All’s mission.
  • Share impactful stories from network partners.
  • Engage global media outlets and journalists.
  • Publish thought leadership content.
  • Increase public awareness of education challenges and solutions.
  • Support strategic communications across the organization’s global network.

The Media and Editorial Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring these efforts run efficiently while maintaining high editorial standards.

Position Summary

The Media and Editorial Coordinator will support media relations, editorial planning, thought leadership, and operational systems that enable Teach For All to communicate effectively with global audiences.

The role combines strategic communication with hands-on project management, making it suitable for professionals who enjoy balancing creativity with operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Media Relations (30%)

Successful candidates will help strengthen Teach For All’s relationships with journalists and media organizations by:

  • Supporting media engagement activities.
  • Managing relationships with journalists and editors.
  • Conducting media landscape research.
  • Identifying relevant media platforms for outreach.
  • Maintaining media contact databases.
  • Managing incoming media inquiries.
  • Monitoring daily media coverage.
  • Tracking Teach For All’s media presence.
  • Identifying new engagement opportunities.
  • Analyzing media coverage and producing actionable insights.

2. Thought Leadership and Public Engagement (25%)

The successful candidate will contribute to developing high-quality thought leadership content by:

  • Supporting the creation of opinion articles (op-eds).
  • Assisting with essays and expert commentary.
  • Conducting background research.
  • Drafting and editing written materials.
  • Coordinating editorial submissions.
  • Managing editorial calendars and publication workflows.
  • Maintaining consistent editorial quality across content.
  • Supporting written and video public engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinating speaking opportunities.
  • Preparing press releases and media kits.

3. Operations and Systems (45%)

Operational excellence is a major component of this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing spokesperson databases.
  • Coordinating spokesperson preparation.
  • Maintaining journalist CRM systems.
  • Managing media monitoring systems.
  • Tracking editorial output.
  • Monitoring media placements.
  • Maintaining workflow trackers.
  • Supporting collaboration across internal teams.
  • Coordinating event logistics.
