Position Overview: Research Assistant
The Research Assistant will support SIPRI’s WMD Programme in delivering high-quality research and operational outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research collection and analytical support for WMD-related projects
- Assist in organizing and contributing to:
- Publications
- Workshops
- Meetings and events
- Support administrative and substantive project implementation
- Perform fact-checking, proofreading, and reviewing of publications (including the SIPRI Yearbook)
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to the institute’s academic environment
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic and professional foundation in relevant areas.
Educational Background
- A university degree in a relevant discipline such as:
- International Relations
- Security Studies
- Political Science
- Science/Technology fields related to WMD or space
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge or research experience in:
- Weapons of mass destruction (WMD)
- Outer space security
- Familiarity with:
- Arms control
- Non-proliferation
- Disarmament policies
- Interest in multilateral institutions and global governance
