Next Gen Giving Circle 2026 Grant Cycle: Funding Housing Justice and Economic Equity in the Greater Washington Region
The Next Gen Giving Circle (NGGC) has officially opened its 2026 Grant Cycle, continuing its mission to advance racial and economic justice by supporting organizations that serve historically under-resourced communities. This year’s grantmaking focus is housing justice, a critical component of economic equity that ensures all individuals have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing that supports health, well-being, and upward mobility.
According to the document, “Our 2026 grant cycle is now open.”
Understanding the 2026 Funding Focus: Housing Justice
Beginning in 2026, NGGC members will select one component of economic justice to fund each year. This shift responds to applicant feedback requesting clearer funding priorities and improved application success rates. For 2026, the chosen theme is housing justice, which includes—but is not limited to—the following areas:
- Ensuring affordable housing
- Increasing housing stability
- Reducing gentrification and displacement
- Strengthening renter protections
- Tenant organizing
- Eviction prevention
- Affordable housing advocacy
- Supporting neighbors experiencing homelessness
- Cooperative housing models
- Improving homeownership rates
- Addressing redlining and Indigenous land theft through reparations or landback initiatives
