Apply for the 2026 Summer School on Managing Africa’s Extractive Future in Accra, Ghana

The Summer School on Managing Africa’s Extractive Future 2026 is now open for applications. This fully immersive training program will take place from 18 August to 28 August 2026 in Accra, Ghana, bringing together professionals and changemakers across Anglophone Africa to strengthen governance in the extractive and energy sectors during a critical era of global energy transition.

Hosted by ACEP with support from NRGI under the Anglophone Africa Extractive Industries Knowledge Hub (AFREIKH), this one-week intensive summer school is designed to close knowledge gaps, build leadership capacity, and equip participants with practical tools for managing Africa’s natural resources more effectively.

A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for selected applicants.

Why This Opportunity Matters

Africa’s extractive industries remain central to economic growth, public revenue generation, and foreign exchange earnings. However, many countries continue to face governance challenges such as:

  • Weak institutional systems
  • Revenue leakages
  • Limited local value addition
  • Unequal distribution of resource benefits
  • Poor community outcomes
  • Environmental and social concerns

As global markets shift toward cleaner energy systems, Africa must develop new governance models that ensure a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition.

This summer school provides the knowledge, networks, and policy insights needed to help shape that future.
