About the Role

The President, Global Policy and Advocacy serves as the foundation’s top advisor on political, geopolitical, and government relations matters. This executive will work directly with the CEO, Governing Board, and senior leadership team to drive policy influence and build strategic partnerships around the world.

The selected candidate will lead the Global Policy and Advocacy division and oversee initiatives that advance the foundation’s priorities in global health, development, and U.S. domestic issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Advise executive leadership on global political developments
  • Guide decisions on risk management and policy direction
  • Support country-level strategies across multiple regions

2. Government Relations & Financing

  • Lead global government relations strategies
  • Build partnerships with donor governments and multilateral institutions
  • Support domestic resource mobilization and funding strategies

3. Global Partnerships

  • Build coalitions with governments, civil society, faith leaders, think tanks, and private sector stakeholders
  • Expand philanthropic giving in the U.S. and globally
  • Strengthen long-term support for health and development priorities

4. Public Representation

  • Represent the foundation at high-level global forums
  • Support strategic external engagements for senior leadership
  • Manage sensitive political relationships with professionalism and discretion

5. Organizational Leadership

  • Lead a globally distributed team
  • Align resources with long-term strategy
  • Ensure compliance, governance, and high performance across the division

Required Experience

Applicants should have:

  • Significant leadership experience in public policy, advocacy, diplomacy, or development
  • Deep understanding of global political systems
  • Experience managing large and complex international teams
  • Strong record of influencing public policy and institutional strategy
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
