The G7 Summit will be held in Kananaskis, Alberta in 2025. One dynamic and dedicated team will be put in place locally to plan and deliver the Summit and its related meetings across Canada and will operate in a regional office in Calgary, Alberta.

The Summits Management Office is responsible for leading in the areas of operational policy development, accreditation, communications, protocol, transportation, procurement, media operations, logistics, security, human resources and finance for major international events hosted in Canada.

The selected candidates will be offered casual contracts, based on their skills and experience. Candidates must be flexible, willing to work overtime and travel on short notice. The selected candidates may also be temporarily relocated for a short period of time to the summit site, if needed. Global Affairs Canada is responsible for paying all expenses relating to salary, overtime and travel.

TELEWORK GUIDELINES:
The dynamic nature of G7 Summit planning requires effective relationship-building and real-time communication and collaboration. Consequently, candidates must be willing to work a minimum of three days physically present at the office with this requirement shifting from four or five days in office or on the sites in the weeks before the summit.

Intent of the process

We are looking for a range of skills from various levels and professional groups to support the G7 Presidency. There are casual contracts opportunities in many areas, including accreditation, communications, protocol, transportation, procurement, media operations, logistics, security and office accommodations.

1) Procurement and IM/IT:
Experience in providing support services in one or more of the following fields: IM/IT; procurement and contracting.

2) Communications and media relations:
Experience in the development and implementation of communications products, particularly responses to media queries, and acting as a spokesperson.

3) Office accommodation and administrative support:
Experience in providing support services in the office accommodation and office administration fields.

4) Protocol liaison and operations:
Experience in planning and developing relevant information, prototypes, and programs for official events and managing interactions between government officials and local stakeholders.

5) Environment, communication liaison and accreditation:
Experience in liaising with local communities through themed community outreach strategies and/or implementing greening government strategy.

6) Airport, transport, baggage and accommodations:
Experience in providing support in one or more of the following fields: establishing and/or managing transport dispatch offices; airport operations; baggage handling/tracking; accommodations/real property services in third-party facilities.

7) Media operations:
Experience in providing support for one or more of the following fields: planning and coordinating the functioning of a media centre; planning and coordination of a media pool system; functioning of a host broadcaster and/or host photographer; providing services for domestic and/or foreign media.

8) Conference facility site, preparation and security:
Experience in the planning and coordination of one or more of the following fields: food services; design and fabrication of event set-ups and/or signage; audio-visual services.
Experience managing inventory and coordination of shipments in a warehouse.

Conditions of employment

CONDITONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
– A minimum of 3 days in the office
– Willingness and ability to travel for short periods of time and on short notice.
– Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
– Willingness and ability to relocate to the event’s site(s) temporarily.
– Secret security clearance or Employee Summit Access.

DEFINITION:
Casual workers are hired for specified periods that may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year, in a department or in an agency. The period of casual employment may be for one or more than one term, but is not to exceed 90 working days in a department or agency in a calendar year.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
