Ideathon for Social Justice: Empowering Youth Voices in Latin America and the Caribbean

General Description: The #IdeathonForSocialJustice initiative, spearheaded by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, is a dynamic platform designed to amplify the voices of young people across the region. This initiative aims to foster innovative solutions and promote active youth participation in discussions surrounding social justice and decent work.

Objectives: The primary objective of the Ideathon is to promote the participation of young people from Latin America and the Caribbean in the Global Coalition for Social Justice, led by the ILO. By recognizing and harnessing their innovative capacity, the initiative seeks to empower youth to contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of social justice.

The Initiative: The Ideathon invites young individuals and change agents from Latin America and the Caribbean to submit innovative proposals that articulate their vision of social justice and propose actionable pathways to achieve it. Through three distinct categories—Artistic or Communication Initiatives, Political Advocacy, and Academic—the initiative provides a platform for youth to address critical issues related to social justice and decent work.

Call Guidelines: The Ideathon welcomes participation from individuals aged 16 to 29, prioritizing ideas originating from youth collectives and organizations across the region. Detailed guidelines for submission can be found on the official Ideathon website.

Evaluation: Proposals will undergo a rigorous evaluation process by juries representing employers’ and workers’ organizations.
