Solar Power Fellowships – Edition 2024

Our 2024 Solar Power Fellowship Application is now open! GRID Alternatives and WRISE are partnering again for the Rising Solar fellowship program, offering aspiring solar professionals from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to pursue careers in renewable energy. This program is part of GRID and WRISE’s workforce diversity initiatives, targeting individuals identifying as women or marginalized genders.

Rising Solar Fellows Receive:

  • Free access to the RE+ conference*
  • Specialized program content exclusively for fellows
  • Mentoring and networking opportunities
  • Collaboration with a peer group of fellows

*WRISE covers conference registration, travel, and lodging expenses upfront. Additional fellowship-related expenses (food, Uber/Lyft, etc.) are reimbursed. If upfront costs are a barrier, please let us know, and we will find a solution.

Program Duration: August 12, 2024 – October 9, 2024

Fellows are expected to attend the RE+ conference in person, as well as virtual meetings before and after the conference.

Eligibility:

  • 18 years or older
  • Identifying as a woman or marginalized gender
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a college, university, or technical certificate program
  • Located in the United States during the fellowship
  • Planning to pursue a renewable energy career in the U.S., preferably in the solar industry
  • Current GRID Alternatives SolarCorps Fellows are not eligible

Application Materials:

  • Current resume or professional vitae
  • Academic transcript (official or unofficial)
  • At least one Letter of Recommendation
  • Essay (750-1750 words) on one of the provided topics

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy
  • Academic and/or vocational achievement
  • Work and volunteer experience
  • Potential for future contributions to the U.S. renewable energy community
  • Financial need
