Overview

The TechnoServe Fellows Program, formerly known as Volunteer Consultants, plays a crucial role in advancing TechnoServe’s mission to fight poverty through business solutions. Fellows collaborate with full-time staff to make a significant impact worldwide. Notably, 100% of our Fellows would recommend the program to friends and colleagues.

About the Program

Since 1996, TechnoServe has engaged over 1,200 Fellows on three to twelve-month projects in Africa, India, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This competitive fellowship offers business professionals the chance to use their skills to make a difference in international development, gaining firsthand experience in a cross-cultural, entrepreneurial environment.

Project Descriptions

TechnoServe Fellows engage in diverse roles, often involving:

  • Assessing market opportunities and value chains
  • Crafting business and funding strategies with clients
  • Strengthening client operations and organizational capacity
  • Designing innovative projects and proposals
  • Evaluating program impacts

Some projects also include creating communications materials, developing training curricula, and conducting strategic research.

Meet Our Fellows

Our Fellows bring valuable business acumen and experience to our teams and partners. They typically have:

  • Minimum of Two Years’ Experience: Often in management consulting, financial services, or corporate strategy.
  • Essential Skills: Industry analysis, business plan development, financial modeling, operations, organizational development, marketing strategy, and stakeholder management.
  • Diverse Backgrounds: Over half of our Fellows come from outside the United States, adding a rich variety of perspectives.

How to Apply

We accept applications on a rolling basis. The TechnoServe Fellows Program matches candidate skills and interests with project requirements. While preferences are considered, offers are based on project needs at the time of application. Note that proficiency in French or Spanish may be required for some positions, and the selection process is highly competitive.
