Global Access Correspondent Program for Summer 2024 (For PWDs in US)

Overview

Are you a person with a disability planning to travel abroad this summer for an international exchange? The National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange (NCDE) is looking for enthusiastic individuals to become Global Access Correspondents. Share your unique experiences and stories with a wider audience through various media while promoting the participation of people with disabilities in international exchanges.

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be a citizen or national of the United States.
  • Identify as a person with a disability (including apparent and non-apparent disabilities).
  • Be planning to participate in an international exchange program or experience outside the U.S. occurring between June and August 2024. International exchange includes study abroad, volunteer work, teaching, internships, sports or arts exchanges, professional fellowships, and similar non-leisure activities.

Responsibilities

As a Global Access Correspondent, you will:

  • Document your experiences abroad through short articles, photos, videos, and draft social media posts to be shared on the MIUSA website and social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Depending on the duration and nature of your exchange, draft 10-15 “social media takeover” posts.
  • Share your experiences upon your return and by September 15, 2024, via a culminating blog post for the MIUSA blog, and/or a video or photo diary.

Global Access Correspondents will receive:

  • An honorarium of $250 upon successful completion of responsibilities.
  • The opportunity to have your articles, blogs, pictures, and videos published and promoted on MIUSA’s website and social media channels.
  • Professional career experience in marketing, social media, writing, international education, and travel.
  • The chance to further NCDE’s mission to promote the participation of people with disabilities in international exchange programs.
  • The option to participate in a virtual panel of Global Access Correspondents or other presentation opportunities.

The National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange (NCDE) is a project of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It aims to increase the participation of people with disabilities in international exchanges between the United States and other countries and is supported in its implementation by Mobility International USA.
