Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) is calling upon the vibrant and dynamic youth of Canada to join the AKFC Youth Advisory Committee—an exciting opportunity to shape the future of global citizenship and youth engagement programming. As a diverse group of young Canadians aged 16 to 21, the committee will play a pivotal role in influencing AKFC’s initiatives across the nation.

The Mission of the Youth Advisory Committee

Purpose & Objectives

The AKFC Youth Advisory Committee aims to:

  • Provide advice and guidance to inform AKFC’s educator and youth engagement programming.
  • Spearhead a national youth engagement strategy.
  • Benefit from leadership-building, community engagement, career advancement, and networking opportunities.

Three Core Pillars of Work

  1. Content Creation:
    • Collaborate on aligning educational content with the interests and learning styles of youth.
    • Provide insights on accessibility, clarity, and effectiveness of content.
    • Advise on emerging global topics and trends for relevant and engaging content.
  2. Outreach & Engagement:
    • Inform strategies to foster active youth participation in global citizenship programming.
    • Guide methods to reach a diverse range of youth across Canada.
    • Co-develop interactive platforms and events for peer-to-peer learning.
  3. Research & Evaluation:
    • Collaborate on mechanisms for measuring the impact of AKFC’s educational programs.
    • Conduct research activities to enhance AKFC’s impact on fostering global citizenship awareness and action.

Eligibility & Selection Process

  • Open to youth aged 16 to 21 across Canada.
  • Applicants must demonstrate interest in global development, strong communication skills, and commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and equity.
  • The selection process includes resume submission, an online application, an informal interview, and the selection of final candidates.

Interested youth can submit their resume with up to two references to akfc.hr@akdn.org with a copy to sophia.mirzayee@akdn.org no later than January 5th, 2024, at 11:59 PM ET.
