General Information: The United Nations Regional Course in International Law for Latin America and the Caribbean, conducted in English, is a collaborative effort involving the Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, the Government of Chile, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Scheduled from 16 May to 7 June 2024, the course welcomes up to 25 participants, with spaces available for self-funded individuals.

Financial Arrangements and Accommodation: Participants receiving fellowships will have travel, accommodation, breakfast and lunch, medical insurance, and training materials covered. A modest stipend will also be provided for other living expenses. Self-funded participants, apart from training materials, bear all costs related to their participation.

Application Process: To be eligible, candidates must have a legal background with professional experience in international law, fluency in English, and the ability to attend the entire course. The application deadline is 22 December 2023. This opportunity is open to candidates from Member States of the Latin American and Caribbean Group to the United Nations.

Selection Process: Participants are selected based on qualifications, the relevance of the training to their professional duties, and gender balance, with a strong encouragement for female candidates to apply. The United Nations emphasizes that there is no fee at any stage of the application and selection process, and no information about candidates’ bank accounts is required.
