About the Fellowship

  • The Clore Fellowship is a programme designed for exceptional leaders in the cultural sector.
  • Around 24 fellowships are awarded each year to leaders in areas such as the visual and performing arts, museums, libraries, archives and heritage, film and digital media, and cultural policy and practice.
  • The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is a partnership between the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Clore Leadership, offering mid-career professionals in the arts and culture sector an exceptional opportunity to undertake an individually tailored leadership programme in the UK. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office funds up to five international fellows to join a cohort of approximately 20 fellows, from across the UK and internationally,

Unique Programme Structure

  • The Fellowship programme is focused on learning through experience and self-reflection.
  • Themes and content are tailored to each individual’s needs, emphasizing personal growth and vision.

Benefits

Dates

  • The Fellowship starts in September 2025, with fellows travelling from their home country to the UK to undertake the 1st fellowship residential in September 2024 and then returning to their home country in early October 2025

Eligibility

  • Applications are invited from individuals from the following countries:
    • Brazil
    • China
    • Egypt
    • India
    • Jordan
    • Lebanon
    • Mexico
    • South Africa
  • Intend to return to the country they were selected from at the end of the period of study
  • Hold a degree that is equivalent to at least a good UK second-class honours degree or have equivalent professional training and/or experience
  • Have completed at least five years’ work, or equivalent experience, by the end 2024
  • Demonstrated ambition, passion for the cultural sector, leadership potential, curiosity, and openness to learning are essential.
  • Have a good working knowledge of English to be assessed in your application form and if you are invited to interview
  • Not hold British or dual British citizenship

*Please note that applicants who have previously received financial benefit from a HMG-funded scholarship or fellowship are eligible to apply after a period of five years following the completion of their first HMG funded award.

Funding

  • Costs for all fellowships (except self or employer funded) are fully covered.
  • Funding support from a range of partners includes tuition, accommodation, travel, mentorship, development budget, and access provisions.
  • If you are self-employed or taking a career break whilst on your Fellowship, you will normally be eligible for a bursary of £14,000 for UK and Ireland Fellowships, paid directly to you (with the exception of self–funded or employer-supported Fellowships, such as National Trust.)
  • If you are planning to remain in employment during your Fellowship (and have been awarded a funded Fellowship), your employer will be able to claim a contribution up to a maximum of £14,000 towards compensation for the periods when you are away from the workplace, on receipt of proof that you continue to receive a salary.
