The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has announced its Young Professionals Recruitment Programme, seeking to recruit high-calibre young graduates from universities and other tertiary institutions of learning in the West African sub-region and the diaspora.
The programme is designed for young professionals who will not be more than 30 years of age at the time of recruitment. Successful candidates will be appointed as Young Trainee Professional Staff under a two-year fixed-term contract.
About the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID)
The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) is an international financial institution owned by the fifteen Member States of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The ECOWAS Member States are Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
The headquarters of EBID is located in Lomé, Togolese Republic. The mission of EBID is to work towards the emergence of an economically strong, industrialized and prosperous West Africa that is fully integrated within the region and world economy in order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by globalization.
EBID Young Professionals Recruitment Programme 2026
The EBID Young Professionals Programme is designed for high-calibre young professionals who will not be more than 30 years old at the time of recruitment.
Selected candidates will be appointed as Young Trainee Professional Staff under a two-year fixed-term contract.
Candidates will undergo a six-month probationary period, during which either party may terminate the relationship without prior notice. Where the performance of the Young Trainee Professional Staff is satisfactory during the probationary period, the appointment will be converted into an open-ended contract, meaning successful candidates can become permanent members of staff of the Bank.
During the appointment, Young Trainee Professional Staff will be posted to different departments on a rotational basis. This is intended to familiarize them with the activities of the Bank, integrate them into teams and enable them to make positive contributions.
Trainee Professional Staff will also work under the supervision of senior staff to become acquainted with the various Departments, Policies and Programmes of EBID.
EBID Young Professionals Programme Eligibility Criteria
Citizens of ECOWAS Member States who meet the following criteria are invited to apply:
- Be less than 30 years of age at the time of recruitment.
- Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in fields related to the activities of the Bank.
- Be able to work in a team and under pressure within a multicultural environment.
- Have strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to plan and determine priorities.
- Have good research skills for obtaining pertinent information, including banking analysis, statistics and monitoring competitive trends, from external sources, electronic databases and other media admitted for professional purposes.
- Have good knowledge of office automation systems, including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
- Be fluent in English, French or Portuguese, with a working knowledge of one of the other two languages.

- Other areas relevant to the activities of the Bank.
EBID Young Professionals Salary and Conditions of Service
According to the recruitment advertisement, young professionals will be posted to departments in response to specific needs and will not be recruited to fill vacant positions.
Throughout the duration of their appointment, they will be considered Professional staff of the Bank. Their conditions of service will correspond to grade P1-1 in the EBID staff classification and salary scale.
Various allowances will be added to the salary, including:
- Post adjustment allowance
- Housing allowance
- Transport allowance
- Family grant, where necessary
Young professionals will also be admitted into the Bank’s pension scheme during their appointment.
They will further be entitled to insurance cover against death and permanent disability, total and permanent disability, temporary occupational disability, partial permanent disability, personal accident and sickness.
EBID Recruitment Criteria and Selection Procedure
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for written and oral tests at the headquarters of the Bank in Lomé.
Candidates will be tested for:
- Technical skills
- Potential
- Personality and level of motivation
- Computer skills
- Good verbal communication and writing skills in not less than two of the three working languages of the Bank.
Documents Required for EBID Young Professionals Application
Interested candidates who meet the eligibility criteria should submit their application dossier to the Bank in paper form.
The application dossier should comprise:
- A detailed curriculum vitae;
- Copy of qualifications obtained;
- Copy of national identity card or passport;
- Copy of birth certificate;
- A letter of motivation indicating:
- Reasons for participating in the programme;
- Areas of competence/interest;
- Relevant experience; and
- Career prospects.
