Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming workplaces across the world, creating new opportunities while also reshaping traditional career paths. To help ensure that the benefits of AI are shared widely, Anthropic has launched Claude Corps, a groundbreaking national fellowship program that will train and place 1,000 early-career professionals in nonprofit organizations across the United States.

Backed by an initial investment of $150 million, the program aims to equip nonprofits with AI expertise while providing fellows with valuable professional experience, hands-on training, and career development opportunities.

What is Claude Corps?

Claude Corps is a year-long paid fellowship designed to help nonprofits leverage the power of AI through Anthropic’s Claude platform. The initiative brings together talented young professionals and mission-driven organizations to advance social impact while preparing the next generation of AI-literate workers.

The program is a collaboration between:

  • Anthropic – Funding the program, providing AI expertise, and leading overall strategy.
  • CodePath – Serving as the employer of record and delivering fellowship programming and mentorship.
  • Social Finance – Leading monitoring, evaluation, and long-term sustainability planning.

The fellowship seeks to create a scalable model that demonstrates how AI can strengthen communities, organizations, and career pathways during a period of significant technological change.

Why Claude Corps Matters

As AI continues to transform industries, many experts have raised concerns about workforce disruption and unequal access to emerging technologies. Claude Corps represents a proactive effort to address these challenges by investing directly in people and organizations that can benefit from AI adoption.

The initiative aims to:

  • Expand AI literacy among early-career professionals
  • Strengthen nonprofit effectiveness and impact
  • Create new career pathways in the AI economy
  • Generate evidence on how AI can support mission-driven work
  • Develop a scalable model that can be replicated nationally and internationally

Anthropic plans to rigorously evaluate the program’s impact on both fellows and host organizations, with the goal of expanding the model beyond the initial 1,000 participants and potentially adapting it for use in other countries.

How to Apply

Applications for the Claude Corps Fellowship are now open. Interested candidates should prepare their applications before the July 17, 2026 deadline for the first cohort.

This is a unique opportunity for aspiring professionals interested in artificial intelligence, social impact, nonprofit innovation, and community development to gain hands-on experience while earning a competitive salary and helping organizations advance their missions.

Applications can be submitted here. The application asks for:

  • Background and experience
  • Short-answer questions, including one about a time the applicant made an impact in their community, and one about a time they learned from a mistake or setback
  • Completion of two short AI training modules (AI Fluency and Claude 101) hosted on Skilljar—this gives applicants a preview of the training fellows receive, and helps the program see how they prompt, evaluate an AI’s response, and adjust when the first answer is not quite right (instructions are included in the application)
  • Demographic information (voluntary, used for program reporting and equity tracking)
