About the Youth Advisory Council (YAC)
The Youth Advisory Council is a governance and advisory body composed of 6–8 young activists, ages 16–21, who serve one‑year terms. YAC members ensure that youth voice meaningfully informs PERIOD.’s strategic direction, program priorities, and organizational values.
Key Functions of the YAC
- Strategic Advising — offering guidance to PERIOD.’s staff and Board of Directors.
- Youth Representation — ensuring that decisions reflect the lived experiences of young people.
- Equity‑Centered Leadership — applying a racial, social, and economic justice lens to all recommendations.
- Organizational Growth — contributing to nonprofit development, governance, and national representation.

Honorarium
YAC members receive:
- $500 per semester
- Up to $1,000 total for the full one‑year term
