The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada is inviting passionate and impact-driven youth to apply for the 2026/2027 Youth Advisory Council (YAC), an exciting leadership and volunteer opportunity designed for young people who are committed to creating positive change for people, animals, and the environment.

The Youth Advisory Council is one of the flagship youth engagement initiatives under the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada. Through this programme, selected young leaders will collaborate with peers across Canada to influence programming, co-design environmental and social impact projects, and contribute directly to conversations surrounding biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental inequity.

This opportunity is specifically designed for youth aged 18–30 who will reside in Canada throughout the programme term from July 2026 to June 2027. The initiative welcomes applicants from all immigration statuses, provided they are living in Canada during the entire fellowship period.

About the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) serves as a platform for empowering young voices in environmental leadership and advocacy. The council ensures that youth perspectives and lived experiences remain central to the development and implementation of programs led by the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2026/2027 Youth Advisory Council, applicants must:

Age Requirement

Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old.

Residency Requirement

Applicants must reside in Canada for the entire duration of the term:

  • July 2026 to June 2027

The opportunity is available regardless of immigration status, provided applicants will remain in Canada during the programme term.

Important Residency Note

This opportunity is strictly limited to youth who will be physically residing in Canada for the entirety of the July 2026 – June 2027 term.

Applicants who:

  • Do not currently live in Canada permanently, or
  • Anticipate leaving Canada during the programme period

may not be invited to participate in the Youth Advisory Council.
