Position Overview: Technical Advisor (WE4D Malawi)

This role focuses on delivering strategic and technical support in private sector development, communication, and knowledge management to advance green employment opportunities for women.
Key Responsibilities
1. Private Sector Development
The Technical Advisor will play a critical role in strengthening green job ecosystems by:
- Managing partnership projects and interventions focused on:
- Green skills development
- Entrepreneurship support
- Job matching initiatives
- Promoting collaboration between:
- Private sector actors
- Training institutions
- Government agencies
- Civil society organizations
- Designing and implementing strategies that:
- Support women-led MSMEs
- Enhance women’s access to green jobs
- Promote inclusion of Persons with Disabilities
- Coordinating enterprise development partnerships, including:
- Workshop facilitation
- Technical documentation
- Monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes
- Identifying and leveraging strategic partnerships across development actors
2. Communication and Knowledge Management
The role also involves strengthening visibility and communication through:
- Developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies
- Managing communication service providers and consultants
- Producing high-quality communication materials and knowledge products
- Organizing outreach events, field visits, and PR activities
- Maintaining databases of communication assets and project documentation
- Supporting knowledge-sharing platforms and regional communication initiatives
Core Tasks and Functions
The Technical Advisor will:
- Plan and execute entrepreneurship promotion strategies in green sectors
- Manage consultancies, including:
- Terms of Reference development
- Consultant selection and supervision
- Quality assurance of deliverables
- Monitor program progress and contribute to reporting systems
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and collaboration platforms
- Support gender-responsive and inclusive program implementation
Required Qualifications and Competencies
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in:
- Business Administration
- Agriculture
- Gender Studies
- Communications
- Public Relations
- Technical Education
- Or a related field
- Additional qualifications in development cooperation, TVET, or private sector development are an advantage
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in:
- Employment promotion
- Private sector development
- Women’s economic empowerment
- Experience in:
- Partnerships with private sector and training institutions
- International development cooperation
- Green sectors (renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable agriculture)
- Proven expertise in:
- Gender equality initiatives
- Stakeholder engagement
- Workshop facilitation and moderation
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English and Chichewa
