The Opportunity

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily operations
  • Driving long-term strategic growth
  • Ensuring legal and financial compliance
  • Managing partnerships and external relations
  • Representing the organization publicly

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management, requiring both vision and operational expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Lead all internal operations, including programs, finance, and administration
  • Build and strengthen organizational infrastructure
  • Ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in all activities

Strategic Direction

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies
  • Partner with the Board on decision-making and goal setting
  • Navigate complex political and nonprofit environments

Partnerships and Outreach

  • Build relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders
  • Expand SDP’s network of sponsored projects
  • Represent the organization as its primary spokesperson

Program and Project Support

  • Provide guidance to sponsored projects on fundraising and development
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance
  • Monitor project performance and impact

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and support staff and consultants
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and accountability

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned nonprofit leader with strong strategic and operational capabilities.

Core Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit organizations
  • Strong understanding of fiscal sponsorship models
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors
  • Proven ability to manage complex organizations and environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and marginalized communities

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 annually
