International academics seeking funded research opportunities in the UK can now apply for the prestigious AHSS Global Fellows Scheme 2026/27 at Queen’s University Belfast. This highly competitive fellowship supports scholars from around the world to spend between 4 and 12 weeks in Belfast, collaborating with leading researchers and advancing shared academic interests.

What Is the AHSS Global Fellows Scheme?
The AHSS Global Fellows Scheme is designed to bring outstanding international scholars to Queen’s University Belfast for short-term academic visits. Fellows will work closely with colleagues in one of the Faculty’s four Schools while pursuing collaborative research projects and knowledge exchange activities.
This fellowship is open to academics at any career stage and across disciplines connected to the Faculty’s academic areas.
Fellowship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a strong package of support, including:
- Funding for visits lasting 4 to 12 weeks
- Travel and accommodation funding up to £4,000
- A courtesy desk within the host School
- Access to university library resources
- Opportunities to collaborate with respected academic staff

Longer stays may be possible through self-funded arrangements.

Applicants may be hosted within one of the Faculty’s four Schools:
- Arts, English and Languages
- History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics

- Social Sciences, Education and Social Work

Application Requirements
Before submitting an expression of interest, applicants must first secure sponsorship from a host School within the Faculty.
After selection, successful fellows will also need to complete the University’s formal Visiting Titles process.
