This flagship youth program empowers young leaders across India to take meaningful grassroots climate action through leadership, advocacy, and community engagement.

What is the NYCC Climate Champions Fellowship?

The NYCC Climate Champions Fellowship is a transformative initiative designed to support and equip young changemakers with the tools, mentorship, and resources needed to address climate challenges at the grassroots level.

Led by Bring Back Green Foundation and supported by UNICEF YuWaah, the program emphasizes youth-led action and collaboration with government and local stakeholders for sustainable impact.

Over the past two years, the fellowship has:

  • Trained 62 Climate Champions
  • Covered 33 States & Union Territories in India
  • Built strong local partnerships
  • Enabled fellows to represent their work at national and international platforms

What makes this fellowship unique is its strong focus on localized solutions and youth-government partnerships, ensuring impactful and scalable climate initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

  • Be 18 to 29 years old

  • Be committed to implementing a local climate project

Selection Process

The fellowship follows a three-stage selection process:

Stage 1: Application Screening
Top applications are shortlisted. AI-generated or incomplete submissions are automatically disqualified.

Stage 2: Project Proposal Submission
Shortlisted candidates submit a detailed proposal outlining their climate project.

Stage 3: Virtual Interview
Finalists are interviewed and selected based on:

  • Commitment
  • Project feasibility
  • Potential impact
