Key Responsibilities of the JPO

Core Duties Include:

1. Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Support

   • Support Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) programs
2. Research and Policy Analysis
   • Monitor global trends in political affairs and gender issues
   • Conduct research and surveys to support UN operations
3. Reporting and Documentation
   • Contribute to reports submitted to the UN Security Council
   • Support inputs for the Secretary-General’s reports
   • Assist in reporting frameworks such as SWAP 3.0
4. Data Collection and Monitoring
   • Support data-driven monitoring of WPS initiatives
   • Assist in evaluating program outcomes
5. Strategic Communication
   • Draft analytical notes, concept papers, and briefing materials
   • Prepare talking points and proposals
6. Capacity Building and Training

Educational Requirements:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

1. Advanced Degree Pathway
   • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in:
     • International Relations

     • Public Administration
     • Human Rights
     • Gender Studies or related fields
   • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
2. Alternative Pathway
   • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
   • Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience

Additional Academic Requirement:

• A significant portion of academic studies must have been completed in an eligible country
