Eligibility Criteria

Geographic Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Based in or operating within:
    • Burkina Faso
    • Ghana
    • Mali
    • Niger
    • Nigeria
    • Senegal
    • Togo

Regional organizations working across these countries are also eligible.

Organizational Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be legally registered organizations
  • Have experience in:
    • Governance
    • Democracy
    • Citizen engagement
    • Political participation
  • Demonstrate:
    • Financial management capacity
    • Experience managing similar grant sizes

Consortium Applications

  • Lead organization must have prior experience managing similar projects or regranting

What the Fund Does Not Support

The WADF does not fund:

  • General institutional support (non-project-based funding)
  • Election monitoring activities (except specific use cases)
  • Partisan political activities
  • Lobbying for specific legislation
  • Organizations on restricted sanction lists
