The Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) is an international think tank founded in 2009, working at the intersection of business, human rights, and sustainability. Through collaboration with governments, companies, and civil society, IHRB aims to promote accountability and ensure that human rights are embedded in global business practices.

This opportunity is part of IHRB’s JUST Stories project, a flagship initiative focused on documenting and sharing real-world examples of community-led climate adaptation and resilience. The project highlights how local communities—especially those on the frontlines of climate change—are designing and implementing solutions that can inform global policy and investment decisions.

The selected candidates will play a leading role in the second phase of the JUST Stories project, which focuses on producing high-quality, evidence-based narratives. These stories are designed to influence decision-makers across sectors such as government, finance, and civil society, while authentically representing the voices and experiences of communities.

This role combines research, storytelling, and policy engagement, making it ideal for professionals who can bridge academic analysis with compelling narrative writing.

Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• At least 7 years of experience in research, writing, or related fields
• Strong expertise in climate adaptation and resilience, particularly community-led approaches
• Proven experience in qualitative research, interviews, and long-form writing
• Familiarity with frameworks such as UN climate adaptation or resilience frameworks
• Excellent analytical and storytelling skills

Additional desirable qualifications include:

• Experience working with Indigenous communities or vulnerable populations
• Background in journalism, development studies, anthropology, or human rights
• Knowledge of climate finance, policy, or philanthropy sectors
• Additional language skills relevant to project regions

Candidates must also be able to work remotely, manage their own schedule, and collaborate effectively across time zones.
