Fellowship Opportunities in Nigeria and Kenya for Management Consultants – Make Your Career Break Matter

Are you a current or former management consultant seeking a purposeful career pivot? Or perhaps you’re exploring a career break and want to spend it creating impact in underserved communities? Technoserve is offering a unique opportunity for professionals like you to apply your business acumen to real-world development challenges in Nigeria and Kenya.

Why This Fellowship?

The TechnoServe Fellows Program offers professionals the chance to support and scale inclusive market-based solutions in the developing world. These fellowships are short-term (3–6 months) and voluntary, but they come with full expense coverage, including:

  • Round-trip flights
  • Comfortable accommodation
  • Visa and legal documentation
  • Daily per diem for meals and local transport

Beyond logistics, the Fellowship offers something less tangible but far more valuable: the chance to do meaningful work with real-world impact while learning how development organizations operate on the ground.

“I give you my word — this will be an incredible experience, both personally and professionally.”

Open Fellowship Roles – Starting Early August 2025

We’re currently recruiting Fellows to support two exciting projects in Africa’s horticulture sector:

Nigeria: Reducing Post-Harvest Losses and Improving Market Efficiency

This role focuses on identifying private sector solutions to tackle the major challenge of post-harvest losses in Nigeria’s vibrant horticulture industry. You’ll work with local stakeholders to design strategies that reduce waste and improve supply chain efficiency — ultimately increasing incomes for farmers and strengthening food security.

Kenya: Linking Farmers to High-Value Markets

In Kenya, the Fellow will help shape the strategic design and implementation of market linkage interventions. The goal? To support smallholder farmers in accessing premium markets, improving their livelihoods and stimulating inclusive economic growth.

Who Should Apply?

We’re particularly looking for individuals with:

  • Experience in management consulting, private sector strategy, agribusiness, or related fields
  • A strong analytical mindset and project management skills
  • A passion for international development, agriculture, and market-based solutions
  • Adaptability and cultural sensitivity in cross-cultural environments

Whether you’re between jobs, pursuing a sabbatical, or actively seeking a transition into the development sector, this Fellowship offers the kind of hands-on experience that no classroom or corporate boardroom can replicate.
