About SDSN and SDSN Youth
The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has been advancing practical solutions for sustainable development since 2012 under the guidance of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN focuses on mobilizing global scientific expertise to address economic, social, and environmental challenges, including the implementation of the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement.
SDSN Youth, launched in 2015, empowers young people worldwide to create and implement solutions for sustainable development. Through outreach, capacity building, and advocacy, SDSN Youth supports the global effort to achieve the SDGs by amplifying the voices of youth and fostering collaboration.
The Role of a Regional Focal Point
As a Regional Focal Point, you will play a key role in supporting SDSN Youth’s Global Youth Networks across the Africa or Asia-Pacific region. Working closely with Network Coordinators, your responsibilities will include fostering collaboration, promoting regional initiatives, and ensuring the alignment of activities with the SDGs.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote Collaboration: Facilitate cooperation among Network Coordinators (NCs) within the region to drive collective action.
- Act as a Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between regional networks and SDSN Youth’s global structure.
- Support and Guide NCs: Provide guidance on project management, communications, and tools to ensure effective implementation of initiatives.
- Monitor and Report: Track and report on regional activities and their alignment with SDGs.
- Drive New Initiatives: Support innovative efforts to localize SDGs and address regional priorities.
- Organize Regional Calls: Host monthly calls to share updates, discuss best practices, and strengthen relationships within the network.
Qualifications
- Age: 18-30 years old.
- Location: Must reside in the Africa or Asia-Pacific region for at least 12 months after application.
- Experience: Prior involvement in youth leadership, project management, or team coordination is essential.
- Skills: Strong command of English (writing, speaking, and listening) and familiarity with tools like Google Suite.
- Commitment: Dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per week to the role.
- Passion: Deep interest in sustainable development and alignment with SDSN’s mission.
