Empowering Future Leaders: Equity and Merit Scholarships for Sustainable Development
Program Overview
The Equity and Merit Scholarships program is designed to empower young professionals from the Global South, enabling them to contribute significantly to sustainable development in their home countries. These scholarships support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by providing opportunities for academically excellent students who lack the financial means to study in Manchester without assistance. The program promotes equal opportunity, with a particular emphasis on encouraging women to apply.
Scholarship Types
- Full-time, on-campus master’s (one-year duration)
- Part-time, distance learning master’s (three to five years duration)
Courses Available
Scholarships are available for various disciplines including engineering, environment, health sciences, development, education, textiles, and law. A total of 40 scholarships are offered: 30 for full-time study and ten for online study.
What the Scholarship Covers
For on-campus students: full tuition fees, return international airfares, living expenses, and visas.
For online students: full tuition fees.
Application Timeline
- 1 to 31 August 2024: Scholarship application window
- September 2024: Eligibility checks
- 1 to 31 October 2024: Academic application window
- November 2024 to May 2025: Review period
- June 2025: Results announced
- September 2025: Start of the academic year
