The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is seeking a dedicated Youth Engagement Consultant to support the G20 Global Land Initiative (GLI) in its mission to address desertification, land degradation, and drought. This consultancy offers a unique opportunity to contribute to global efforts in sustainable land management, working on high-profile events like CoP16 and the START Summit 2024.

Background

Established in 1994, UNCCD is the sole legally binding international agreement that links environment and development to sustainable land management. The G20 Global Land Initiative, launched in 2020, seeks to reduce land degradation by 50% by 2040, and the Youth Engagement Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting this mission.

Objective of the Consultancy

The consultant will focus on successful youth engagement in various G20 GLI activities, ensuring a strong presence at CoP16, impactful participation in the START Summit 2024, and support for the YECO 2025 programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the organization of events like CoP16 and the START Summit 2024, including logistics, speaker management, and communication strategies.
  • Support the YECO 2025 Programme by identifying key partners and opportunities for engagement.
  • Assist in the due diligence and risk assessment of partnerships.
  • Produce communication materials such as flyers, social media content, and event reports.

Deliverables

  • Monthly activity reports
  • Comprehensive event plans for CoP16 and START Summit 2024
  • Communication materials and reports for YECO 2025 and other related events

Contract Details

  • Duration: 120 days between October 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025
  • Location: Home-based with potential travel for events
