Call for expressions of interest to serve 2024-2026 United Nations WHO Youth Council (Fully-funded and open to youth worldwide)
The World Health Organization (WHO) is excited to announce the opening of the application process for the second term of the WHO Youth Council, scheduled to run from 2024 to 2026. This is a unique opportunity for organizations worldwide to contribute to global health initiatives by engaging in meaningful youth-focused discussions and activities. WHO invites eligible organizations to submit their expressions of interest and encourages all applicants to review the provided instructions and eligibility criteria carefully.
About the WHO Youth Council
The WHO Youth Council serves as a critical platform to integrate the voices of young people into the global health discourse. By harnessing the insights and expertise of youth from diverse backgrounds, the Council aims to shape health policies and strategies, support WHO’s mission, and drive innovative public health initiatives. This engagement is designed to strengthen youth contributions to health systems worldwide through advocacy, innovation, and strategic advice to WHO’s leadership. Eligibility criteria
Organizations interested in joining the WHO Youth Council must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the revised Terms of Reference. This opportunity is open to youth-led, youth-focused organizations, or youth chapters within larger entities, operating at an international level. The Council is seeking a diverse mix of organizations, including those with a focus on health and others that address broader issues impacting youth.
Additionally, all members of the WHO Youth Council are required to be part of the WHO Civil Society Commission. If your organization is not yet a member, you must submit an application to join the Commission alongside your expression of interest for the Youth Council. A submitted application to the WHO Civil Society Commission will suffice for consideration of your interest in joining the Council.
To fully understand the Council’s scope and activities, please review the Terms of Reference carefully, to fully understand the Council’s activities. We invite expressions of interest from organizations active on the international level, that are youth-led, youth-focused or a youth chapter in a larger organization. We are looking to select a mix of primarily health and non-health organizations.
We are asking all WHO Youth Council members to be a part of the WHO Civil Society Commission. If your organization is not yet a member, please submit your application here in addition to submitting your expression of interest for the WHO Youth Council. Please note, that for your expression of interest for the Council to be considered, a submitted application for the WHO Civil Society Commission suffices.
Application process
Interested organizations are required to complete the online application form available at WHO Youth Council Application Form. Additionally, applicants must submit the Tobacco-Arms Disclosure Form, which can be found here. Applications will be reviewed based on adherence to the eligibility criteria, diversity considerations, and relevant motivation, plans and experience of the organization.
