Call for Entries: Best Practices in Inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Across Africa

Overview

The African Union Commission and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) are on the lookout for outstanding organizations that are advancing equitable and inclusive technical and vocational education and training (TVET) across Africa. If your programs focus on providing equal TVET access to women, girls, marginalized communities, or people with disabilities, this is your chance to shine!

Competition Dates

  • End Date: 30 August 2024 (23:59 GMT+3)
  • Early submissions encouraged

Purpose of the Competition

This competition aims to identify and celebrate innovative practices that enhance equity and inclusion in TVET. The selected practices will contribute to a comprehensive digital Toolbox hosted on the ASPYEE (African Skill Portal for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship), aligning with the African Union’s 2024 theme: “Educate an African fit for the 21st century – Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa.”

The Toolbox will feature a diverse range of successful methods to support the implementation of inclusive TVET policies and strategies, aiding AU Member States in their efforts to integrate marginalized groups and review the Continental TVET Strategy.

Submission Process

  1. Read the Call-Out Document: Understand the criteria for submissions.
  2. Complete the Application Form: Submit your application here.
  3. Language Options: Submissions accepted in English, French, or Portuguese.
  4. Deadline: Submissions close on 30 August 2024 at 23:59 GMT+3.

Prizes

  • Top Three Organizations: Each will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two representatives to Africa Skills Week 2024 in Accra, Ghana (*14-18 October 2024). The prize includes travel, accommodation, and meals. *Where needed, the trip costs for the personal assistants of persons with disabilities will be covered in addition to the costs for the two appointed representatives from each of the three top-scoring organisations.

About Africa Skills Week 2024

Hosted by the Ghanaian government and organized by the African Union, Africa Skills Week 2024 focuses on “Creating jobs for the 21st century: Unleashing the potential of transforming skills development for sustainable employability.” The event will feature a youth pavilion, study tours, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and the Innovating Education in Africa Expo.
