About the OPCW Internship Program

The OPCW internship programme is designed for motivated students interested in gaining experience in international organisations. The main goal of the internship is to provide hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of an international organisation, working towards the OPCW mission of achieving a world permanently free of chemical weapons.

General Information:

  • Contract Type: Intern
  • Duration: 3-6 months
  • Remuneration: 540 EUR
  • Deadline: 9 August 2024

Responsibilities:

The Implementation Support Branch focuses on supporting and sustaining the capacity of States Parties and their National Authorities for effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Main Responsibilities:

During the internship, you will support officers

  • in preparing reports on national implementing legislation,
  • coordinating capacity building activities,
  • and conducting research on CWC-related issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Enrolled in or completed at least one year of a degree programme, or graduated within a year prior to the internship, from an OPCW Member State.
  • Be a citizen of an OPCW Member State.
  • Skills and Competencies: Legal research, knowledge of international law, drafting skills, multicultural adaptability, commitment, social media management.
  • Languages: Fluency in English, knowledge of another official language is desirable.

Additional Information:

Internship acceptance does not guarantee future employment with the OPCW. Interns are responsible for their own expenses related to the programme. Proof of financial means for living expenses is required. Participants must adhere to the OPCW’s working hours and may not undertake other work in the Netherlands during the internship.
