Climate Legal Vacancies: Apply now for African Climate Legal Fellowship Programme

Action Appointments, on behalf of IREX, is seeking experienced lawyers not currently employed in the climate action or environmental rights sector for the African Climate Legal Fellowship Programme (ACLFP). This pilot initiative aims to transition legal professionals into climate action careers, supporting organizations leading the energy transition litigation movement in Africa. Fellows will receive training in climate change, environmental law, and leadership development while expanding their global network of like-minded professionals.

Energy Transition Legal Fellow

The Energy Transition Legal Fellow will work remotely or in Nairobi/Cape Town, focusing on advancing clean energy in Africa. Key tasks include regulatory reforms, legal advocacy, and stakeholder collaboration. Ideal candidates should have a legal background in energy policy and regulation.

Legal Officer

Based in Kampala, Uganda, the Legal Officer at AFIEGO will manage public litigation and influence energy policies. Responsibilities include legal advice, court representation, and community legal aid. Candidates need a practicing certificate and experience in legal research and advocacy.

Legal Fellow – Climate Justice

Located in Kenya, the Legal Fellow – Climate Justice will support local organizations and engage in strategic litigation on climate justice issues. Applicants must be Advocates of the High Court of Kenya with experience in commercial or energy law, and possess strong research and communication skills.

Strategic Litigation Lawyer

The Strategic Litigation Lawyer at CRADESC in Senegal will handle human rights litigation related to economic, social, and cultural rights. Candidates need litigation experience, knowledge of public policies in Francophone Africa, and strong communication skills in French and English.
