The Person-Centred Care Advocacy Academy is set to award fellowships to 15 dedicated advocates for an intensive and interactive four-day workshop series. Jointly organized by the International AIDS Society (IAS) and the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), in partnership with Gilead Sciences, this academy is designed to enhance advocacy skills for improved person-centred service delivery in healthcare.

Focus and Objectives

This initiative targets individuals from central, eastern, southern, and western Africa who are passionate about advancing person-centred care in their communities. The academy aims to:

– Train and Build Skills: Equip participants with the latest person-centred care approaches and strategies to overcome barriers to their implementation.
– Develop Dissemination Tools: Create resources to spread awareness about the importance of person-centred approaches to key stakeholders such as policymakers, media, and program managers.
– Foster Interaction: Provide opportunities to engage with leading researchers and advocates in the field.
– Identify and Address Gaps: Guide participants in identifying service delivery gaps in their communities and developing actionable plans to address these challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must:

– Proficiency in English: Have a sufficient command of the English language.
– Advocacy Experience: Have at least two years of experience as an advocate or healthcare provider (including peer educators) in the HIV field.
– Affiliation: Be affiliated with HIV-related associations, groups, or committees based in central, eastern, southern, or western Africa.
– Interest in Person-Centred Care: Show a keen interest in person-centred care approaches.
