The Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programme in Human Rights Policy and Practice offers a unique opportunity to delve into the study of human rights from a multidisciplinary perspective across four different countries. This full-time program, organized by a consortium of four partner universities and taught in English, equips graduates to professionally engage with human rights in a rapidly evolving global context.

Apply to the Master’s Programme

The next regular application procedure (for both Erasmus Mundus scholarship and self-funded candidates) is scheduled to commence around October 2022 for the academic year 2023/2024. For detailed application information, check our ‘How To Apply’ section.

Costs and Scholarships

Cost of the Programme

The participation fees cover the program costs only. Prospective students must also consider travel and general living expenses.

  • Programme Country Students: €9,000
  • Partner Country Students: €18,000

The tuition fee includes full-time studies, typically 60 credits per academic year (30 credits per study semester). Fee-paying students at the University of Gothenburg are automatically covered by FAS+ without additional charges.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship

The Erasmus Mundus Programme provides EU-funded scholarships for third-country and EU/EEA students admitted to the Human Rights Policy and Practice master’s course. Approximately 15 scholarships are offered each year.

How to Apply

To apply for the scholarship, submit the scholarship application form along with your program application on the University Admissions website. Failure to upload the scholarship application form will result in processing your application as a self-funding candidate.

Scholarship Coverage

The student grant includes participation costs, a monthly living allowance, and contributions to travel and installation costs. Each grantee receives EUR 1,000 per month for living costs during the 24-month program duration.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a first higher education degree by the program admissions deadline.
  • Previous Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders are ineligible for additional scholarships under the Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses (EMMC) action.
