With bases in Rwanda and the USA, YLabs has impacted 18 countries, focusing on optimum health and wellness, improved economic opportunities, and increased climate resilience.
Job Summary
YLabs is seeking a Deputy Growth & Partnerships Director to lead our Growth & Partnerships team. This key role involves overseeing diverse workstreams, spearheading business development efforts, identifying strategic partnerships, and driving project proposals focused on youth health, economic opportunities, and climate resilience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in institutional partnerships and business development, management experience, and a passion for social impact.
Job Type
This is a full-time, fully benefited position, ideally based remotely in the USA, with the requirement to work with our global team and travel internationally (10-15%) for meetings and conferences.
Location
While the preferred location is the USA, YLabs is open to candidates from Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria, Cameroon, the UK, Europe, and other sub-Saharan African countries. Travel for in-person meetings, conferences, and events will be fully reimbursed by YLabs.
Compensation
YLabs adheres to Project Fair’s principles of equity in pay, ensuring “equal pay for work of equal value” as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. The pay range for this position is $106,250 – $120,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience and regionally benchmarked. Compensation outside the USA will be adjusted for local market norms and cost of living.
Key Responsibilities
Growth & Partnerships Strategy (30%)
- Develop YLabs’ business development and fundraising strategy.
- Collaborate with finance and programs leadership to track and communicate funding targets.
- Work with the Impact staff to ensure key metrics are captured in business development proposals.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to advance new business opportunities.
- Align program design efforts with Growth & Partnership’s objectives.
Department Management & Co-Leadership (20%)
- Develop and improve business development and partnership processes.
- Co-lead YLabs’ global Growth & Partnerships team, focusing on mentorship, supervision, and capacity building.
- Manage departmental objectives and key results.
- Provide strategic vision and professional development support.
- Oversee recruitment processes for future hires.
Growth & Partnerships Stewardship (50%)
- Develop sustainable partnerships through effective engagement.
- Execute processes to enhance inter-departmental collaboration.
- Serve as bid coordinator and technical writer for complex proposals.
- Collaborate with external donors, partners, and consultants to secure new business opportunities.
Qualifications
Required:
- 8-10 years of professional experience with a track record of leading business development opportunities.
- Experience with early-stage, fast-growing organizations.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex bids for USG and other institutional funders.
- Experience in pipeline management and business development processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust collaboration skills and a commitment to equity and decolonizing global health.
Desirable:
- Expertise in public health, adolescent health, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, economic inclusion, or climate resilience.
- Language skills in French, Spanish, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, and/or Portuguese.
