The United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) is offering a unique opportunity for young professionals to join their dynamic team as an Advocacy Officer Intern. This six-month internship will start on November 4, 2024, and take place at UNOY’s headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.
Key Details
- Duration: 6 months, Monday to Thursday (32 hours per week)
- Location: The Hague, Netherlands
- Compensation: EUR 500/month stipend; travel expenses reimbursed separately
- Eligibility: Applicants must be legal residents or citizens of the EU, and must already be registered or eligible to register in the Netherlands with a BSN (Dutch registration number).
- Technology: Access to a personal computer and secure internet connection is required.

About UNOY Peacebuilders
UNOY is a global network of over 120 youth-led organizations in more than 70 countries, dedicated to promoting peace, diversity, inclusion, and participation. The network provides a platform for young people to gain experience in peacebuilding, develop skills, and connect with a diverse international community.
Interns at UNOY receive close supervision, support, and training throughout their tenure, ensuring a valuable and enriching learning experience.
Role of the Advocacy Officer
As the Advocacy Officer, you will work closely with the Co-Director of Programmes and the Advocacy Coordinator. Your responsibilities will cover both regional and global advocacy efforts, as well as general programmatic support.
Regional & National Advocacy
- Support regional advocacy teams, particularly in Africa and the Americas.
- Coordinate communications for the African Youth Advocacy team and help implement its strategy.
- Assist in advocacy initiatives at the regional and national levels, especially within the EU Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Coalition.
Global Advocacy
- Aid in coordinating the Global Coalition on Youth, Peace, and Security (GCYPS).
- Participate in task forces and working groups within the GCYPS, with a focus on climate issues.
- Assist in organizing joint events and debriefing UNOY members after high-level representation activities.
Programmatic Support
- Contribute to internal advocacy and planning efforts.
- Help develop advocacy resources for young peacebuilders.
- Support the creation of thematic discussions, especially around climate-related issues.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a motivated individual with:
- Interest or experience in peacebuilding and youth work.
- Strong intercultural communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with the YPS agenda (preferred but not essential).
- A higher education degree (or in the final year of undergraduate studies) in peace and conflict studies, international relations, or related fields.
- Fluency in English (additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic are a plus).
- Self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and in teams.
