Training Structure
Selected Climate Champions will participate in a 4-week hybrid training program beginning in June 2026.
The training will include:
- Three weeks of virtual learning sessions
- One week of physical in-person training
Participants will receive hands-on learning experiences focused on climate action, participatory research, community engagement, and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities of Climate Champions
Successful applicants will undertake several important responsibilities during the program.
These responsibilities include:
1. Conducting Community Surveys
Participants will conduct baseline surveys to better understand local environmental and climate-related challenges within communities.
2. Mobilizing Community Members
Climate Champions will engage and coach community members on sustainable environmental practices and climate resilience strategies.
3. Leading Participatory Action Research Groups
Participants will form and lead Participatory Action Research (PAR) working groups consisting of 7–9 members.
4. Gathering Community Insights
Champions will use participatory methods to gather community perspectives and identify local climate priorities.
5. Co-Designing Climate Solutions
Participants will work collaboratively with communities to develop and implement locally driven climate action solutions.
6. Presenting Outcomes
Climate Champions will present project outcomes, lessons learned, and climate solutions developed during the program.
7. Reporting and Continuous Learning

Young people who have previously participated in or benefited from earlier DOT Kenya Cisco Climate Champions cohorts or projects are not eligible to apply.
